Frequently asked questions

hyphen   YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

How much experience do I need to have? »

You can be an experienced cook wanting to learn new dishes or new techniques, or an absolute beginner keen to try out everything to do with cooking. We cater for all levels of knowledge and experience and because our classes are small in numbers and hands-on even the ‘absolute beginner’ will feel confident and capable by the end of the first lesson.

Do I need to bring anything? »

Just your enthusiasm. We supply everything else.

Do I get to taste the food, or better still, to eat any of it? »

Oh yes! Of course. Classes are designed so that students will taste as they prepare food and in the dinner party format we all sit and eat together with paired wines.

What happens if I can’t make a class? »

If for any reason you cannot make it to a class we ask for 48 hours notice, and then the booking can be held and transferred to any other class of your choosing at a later date. This remains valid for 12 months from the date of the original booking and is true for all classes booked.

Do you cater for special dietary needs? »

Whilst we are covering a range of cooking styles and different cuisines, we are not specifically catering for ethical preferences or medical conditions. However if you speak to us beforehand about a particular need or concern we will do our best to adapt or change a menu where possible to accommodate your requirements although we cannot guarantee to change a complete menu we will do our best to find dishes that suit your particular needs. If in doubt, ask.

If I book two classes of the same type will I be cooking the same thing? »

No. We aim to make each class unique not repeating dishes so that people returning to a particular class will always be trying and learning something new.

Can I bring a friend? »

Please do. The more the merrier but please book two places.

What do I do if I am late? »

Text or call to let us know. If you are coming to a class please try to arrive on time as class will start promptly and whilst we will try to fill you in when you arrive, the classes are timed to run to a schedule and it is imperative we keep to our timings.

What if I cannot stay for the full session for some reason. Would I get a refund? »

Unfortunately not. Classes are priced to cater for the numbers booked and we cannot refund if you miss a class, or part of a class - however we will, if possible, offer you a place on an alternative class at a later date at no extra cost. It is likely by being late you will miss something important.
